Well friends, sorry for the long wait but let’s us see if we can’t make up for the lost time, shall we?
The annual Christmas play was presented at the Chester Gap Baptist Church on Dec. 26 and 27 with a turnout that was right pleasant – if not downright remarkable, considering the arctic-like temperatures that seemed to have settled in on the mountain here.
The play was called “Christmas on Merry Lane” and friends, I must say that it was rightfully one of the most memorable church plays I’ve ever had the great good fortune to witness! While the folks involved may not be ready to take the show on the road, so to speak, it still kept you wrapped up in the plot throughout, waiting to see what was coming next.
The play is the story of three older gentlemen, brothers in a retirement home, and if one didn’t have you chuckling it’s because the other one had already gotten to you. The cast did their best to “get into” their characters, especially Billy Campbell, Fred McDowell and Billy Williams as the brothers Edgar, Rufus and Percy.
If you missed both performances then I’m truly sorry for you, because friends you missed a wonderful blessing indeed. Don’t fret too awful long though folks as there is sure to be a Easter play coming up before we know it and it promises to be just as memorable.
Local birthday boy
One special little boy celebrated his birthday recently and wasn’t going to let the frigid temperatures stop him no matter what. Adam Hoss Moore Jr. turned 5 and celebrated with his friends and family on Sunday, Jan. 10. Adam Jr. of course being the son of local volunteer fireman Adam Moore Sr. Little Adam had a grand time feasting with his buddies on chili dogs, chips, soda, ice cream and, of course, his special Spongebob birthday cake. Congratulations Little Adam and may God hold you in his hand and keep you safe for another year to come.
