Robert Stump now adds the job of principal of Rappahannock County High School to his resume. The Giles County native was appointed June 8 by the Rappahannock County School Board.
Stump takes over his new duties on July 1. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in health and physical education from Emory and Henry College in 1987, and a master’s degree in administration and supervision from the University of Virginia in 2001. He has served as a classroom teacher, coach, high school assistant principal, principal of two high schools, and as a central office business operations administrator.
Stump served as chairperson of a Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) school review team. He was named Youth of Virginia Speak Out Administrator of the Year for the 2008-2009 school year. The youth leadership organization is focused on saving the lives of teenage drivers.
“We had a number of outstanding candidates for this position,” said Superintendent Bob Chappell. “An interview team of teachers, administrators, and a parent recommended two finalists who were then interviewed by a committee of the School Board, new Superintendent Dr. Al Boone, and me. We are convinced Mr. Stump is the person who can bring stability to a fine high school and lead collaboratively with employees, students, and parents to make RCHS an outstanding school for
our students.”
