A very, very special “thank you” goes out to all who participated in the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department parade Friday evening (June 18). This was a joyous evening that gave us the opportunity to thank those who, day in and day out, risk their lives to save ours.
It was heartwarming to see the tributes paid to our firefighters, and not just from the SVFD. How special to have departments from outside the county as far away as Fairfax County, Front Royal and Culpeper join the parade. Thank you to those supporters who were in the parade. Remember to support the SVFD. It is only through your support that they can continue to protect us. Donations can be sent to SVFD, Box 233, Sperryville VA 22740. (They also are going to be setting up a PayPal account so you can donate online at www.sperryvillefire.com.)
Several congratulations are in order from the weekend:
Celebrations
Best wishes to Ricky Pullen and David Baldwin who celebrated their birthdays on June 18. We hope you both had a great day!
Let us not forget that Father’s Day was a special day to many fathers, mothers, sons and daughters as we extended special thoughts to those who are with us always in our hearts.
New music traditions
Music on the Lawn at the Blue Rock Inn is becoming a tradition. The next date is 8 to 10 p.m. Friday (June 25), when the Gold Top County Ramblers perform. The full pub menu will be served (and no cover this time!).
Music on the Deck at Thornton River Grille is Sunday, June 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. Listen to Linda, Joe and Tommy, have a beverage and some great food along with the music.
