Letter: More to know about Bel Air

Aug. 19, 2010
By Jan Clatterbuck

More information has come to light concerning the Bel Air Restaurant and Tourist Cabins featured in Out of the Attic on page A4 of the Aug. 12 edition of the Rappahannock News.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wayland deserve a thank you for adding that the complex was built by Earl Wayland, Richard Wayland’s father, around 1939. The elder Wayland operated the business until he moved to a farm in Sperryville and sold it to Mary Hall.

The Rappahannock Historical Society encourages anyone who has knowledge of county history to contact us and share their oral history. By doing so, it allows us to have more complete files for researchers to use.
