Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Capt. Sheila Scott Walter last month received the Rappahannock EMS Council’s award for outstanding telecommunications officer/dispatcher, making her a 2012 Regional EMS Awards Nominee, eligible for the state Dispatcher of the Year award announced at the EMS symposium in Norfolk. Walter started her career at the Sheriff’s Office in March of 1984, being one of the first dispatchers hired by Sheriff J.H. Woodward when he opened the new county dispatch center.
