Dual Agency Discussion

There's a discussion going on on-line at VAR (Virginia Association of REALTORS) about dual agency. In case you're not familiar with this abhorrent practice, it's when a real estate agent represents both the buyer and the seller in the transaction. (Can you say "conflict of interest"?)

I firmly believe the practice should be illegal, and not only to protect consumers. It creates more lawsuits than anything else in real estate. It damages the reputation of this profession. And, it leaves a bad taste in buyers and sellers mouths, reducing the likelihood of repeat business or referrals (a real estate agent's lifeblood).

Take a look at the discussion and jump in for yourself! Consumers need to be part of the drive to eliminate this practice!
