Welcome to our mommy blog!!!

Hey guys, this is Liz checking in...

I've got less than three months left!!!!!

I know there are many women out there who say being pregnant was the best time of their lives and that they have never felt as beautiful as they did then.... well they are not me!

I'm 24-years-old and 27 weeks pregnant with my first baby -- a little girl -- and I couldn't be more excited about actually having her here! (She's due Sept. 4, 2007.)

I love kids and I've always wanted children of my own, but as for the whole pregnancy thing.... I'm pretty much ready for it to be over, and I haven't even gotten to the last part! I don't feel very beautiful carrying around this baby belly, and I am not looking forward to waddling around in my maternity clothes later this summer in the August heat! But so far I've managed things pretty well I think.

I feel the baby kicking and moving all the time now, so its nice to know she's in there and doing OK! (Even when she wakes me up at 7 a.m. kicking my bladder.) And I haven't had any problems with heartburn or muscle cramps or anything. I've been lucky so far!

No real complaints other than by this point, I'm looking forward to moving on to the fun part – raising my little girl! (Haydin Elizabeth is her tentative name.)

Here she is at 20 weeks:

Little girl at 20 weeks!

Let me back up to the beginning and tell a little bit about me and my situation....

My boyfriend Jerami (like Jeremy), 29, and I found out (quite unexpectedly) that I was pregnant on Jan. 2 of this year. (I was wondering why that New Year's Eve hangover was lasting so long!?!?!!) Since then, we've moved in together to his townhouse in Centreville, and we've become much more serious about... well just about everything. It's the first time in my life when I've really felt like an adult.

I've also felt cut off from most of my friends (single friends at least!) and my past social scene (which basically included D.C. clubs and bars.) And sometimes cut off from my boyfriend... (Do men ever understand women?) During pregnancy I think it's even harder for them to understand what we're going through!!!

I'm originally from Maryland, and I moved to Virginia From Annapolis earlier this year, which was quite a change. I'm still not used to saying that I live in N. Virginia, but at least with my job in Leesburg I am no longer commuting to work along Route 66 and the beltway! I don't understand how so many people do that every day.

Anyway, I am off topic! This blog is about mommyhood, and at least for me it's about VERY NEW mommyhood. When my little girl is born (and I'm sure between now and that special day) I'll have so many new experiences to share with everyone.

I hope anyone who is pregnant, has children, hopes to have them or any combination of the above will take part in this discussion about the wonderful, exciting, nerve racking time that is new parenthood. Advice and suggestions as well as stories are always welcome! Please feel free to contact me anytime with anything you have to say! Although I don't live in Loudoun County, I spend most of my time during the week here (I cover eastern Loudoun), and I'd love to get to know some mommies/ future mommies in this area!

x Liz

Nice photo, Liz! Way to be the first to post a photo to a blog!! Looking forward to more...
