It's time for a baby shower!
So... I stayed up late last night emptying dozens of baby food jars into Tupperware containers and washing out the little glass jars in my sink.
No, I am not crazy, (I'm Liz not Lynn -- haha no offense Lynn!) and I don't have some newfound pregnancy craving for mushed bananas, peaches and apple sauce.
I am preparing for my baby shower, which is tomorrow afternoon at my house... or mostly right outside my house under a huge white tent we rented. We invited about 40 – 50 people, and we're basically just having a BBQ/ party.
That was why I needed the baby food jars – for Jello shots. :) Cute right? It's the perfect mix of innocent little babies and alcohol! Sounds just about right for most of my friends. It was pretty funny though to see the look on the cashier's face when I rolled up (7 months pregnant) with a cart loaded with beer, wine coolers and tons of jars of baby food!
Those little jars actually made nice Jello shot containers!
I am only a few years out of college, but I haven't had a Jello shot in awhile, and it looks like I won't be having any tomorrow since we dumped about half a bottle of vodka into the mix as we let the little Jellos cool.
That along with plenty of beer, wine coolers and liquor should keep all my guests happy, from my various single college friends to my 90-year-old grandmother who is in town from Sarasota, Fl. I'm just kidding, my grandmother doesn't drink! I'm sure my parents will though... which could be embarrassing. (If you knew my mom you would understand!)
I'm not sure what to expect from the shower... my boyfriend and I decided to go for a "couples" party so there won't be any of the traditional, girly baby games... although we are hosting a betting pool on when Haydin will be born, and I am seriously contemplating having a beer chugging competition – out of 8 oz. baby bottles of course!
I did go all out with the decorations though, and I think our house is going to be covered head to toe in pink for at least the next few days.
Even though the party is for us, and we'll be the ones unwrapping all the baby gifts... mostly it's just a day to celebrate the joyous occasion that is my little unborn girl! I hope she knows there are a ton of loving people out here in this world waiting to see her tiny face in less than 11 weeks!!!
I'll let everyone know how the whole thing goes! :)
x Liz

Awwww. :-) I'm gad the baby shower was a success even if certain people got reeeeeally wasted. Lol. You'll be a great mom, Liz. You're gonna be one of those "hip, urban moms" that Monty the Mini Master targets. Run away!!
I'm expecting to see you and Hadyn at my soccer games. ;-)
