Leake deserves our thanks

We want to publicly thank Rappahannock County Animal Control Warden, James Leake for being a knowledgeable, responsive and dedicated County Representative. On Sunday morning, March 9, we had a situation whereby two large dogs literally broke into our chicken coop and killed three young hens and a rooster. Finding the coop damaged, we looked only to find one of the dogs still inside unable to leave by the same hole he created. Fearing what might happen to us, we called Mr. Leake to come and get the dogs. He responded immediately and in a matter of hours, found the dogs, notified their owner, brought them to see the damage, and made restitution. The incident ended peacefully, with all parties having a clear understanding what can happen when pets get loose.

There are many dedicated Rappahannock County employees who serve all citizens without fanfare-even on weekends. Mr. Leake deserves to be recognized for this one essential action.
