Domestic assault
A woman walked into the Rappahannock County Sheriff's Office on April 22 to report a domestic assault.
According to the sheriff's report, 46-year-old Timothy Spring, of Washington, verbally threatened the victim, took her keys and disabled a house phone to prevent her from contacting authorities.
Spring was charged with assault and battery and destruction of a phone line.
Soda machine theft
In separate incidents, two soda machines were broken into last week and the money stolen.
While making rounds on the morning of April 22, Deputy Angela Deavers noticed the door open to a Pepsi machine at the Rappahannock CFC Farm and Home Center on U.S. 211.
An undetermined amount of money had been stolen from the machine.
On April 25, Deputy Jeff Breeden noticed the door open to a Coke machine at Hackley's Store in Amissville.
The machine had been broken into sometime between 8 p.m. the day before and 1:41 a.m. when Deputy Breeden discovered it, according to the sheriff's report.
An undetermined amount of money had been stolen.
The machine was dusted for fingerprints but none were found.
Disputes at Hillsdale
Two disputes at Hillsdale Country Store last week resulted in charges against a Rappahannock man and a Fauquier man.
Justin Scott Todd, of Washington, is facing charges of assault and battery, trespassing and destruction of property after an argument on April 23 that turned violent.
The dispute began in an apartment above Hillsdale on U.S. 211 and continued downstairs.
Todd, 23, was gone by the time sheriff's office deputies arrived on the scene, but warrants were issued for his arrest based on witness statements.
Todd was apprehended on April 24.
David Hamby, of Marshall, was charged with assault and battery after he reportedly tried to hit a man at Hillsdale last Friday night, according to the sheriff's report.
Hamby, 44, had left the store by the time deputies arrived. He was apprehended by the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office in Fauquier County later that evening.
Mysterious intruder
A woman called the sheriff's office this past Monday to report an intruder in her Washington home.
The woman stumbled upon the intruder in her bedroom, according to the sheriff's report.
The man was described as wearing gray sweatpants and a gray sweatshirt.
Lieutenant Roger Jenkins responded to the call but found no sign of the intruder and the house secure.
