Piedmont United Way installs new officers

The Piedmont United Way installed new officers and board members during a recent board meeting.

Other officers are vice president, Larry Huntsman of Locust Grove; treasurer, Dr. Emerson Smith of Rectortown; and secretary, Marie Davis of Washington.

Dr. Brenda Tanner, Superintendent of Madison County public schools also joined the Board of Directors. Continuing as board members are Rodger Baker of Fauquier Health System; Tripp Butler of Virginia Community Bank; Matt Crowley of Davies, Barrell, Will, Lewellyn & Edwards; Valerie Cruz of SWIFT, Inc.; Dave DeLong of Verizon; Jennie Gibson of Wal-Mart; Katie Heritage of the County of Fauquier Administration; Ruth Anne Paisley of the County of Orange Office on Youth; and Jim Underhill of Summit Community Bank.

The Piedmont United Way serves Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock counties.

The Piedmont United Way, through the annual United Way Campaign, provides support to 41 health and human service organizations serving the five-county community. The services provide support and empower families, help children and youth succeed, provide health care and wellness, meet basic needs and provide adult learning and literacy.

The 2008 United Way Campaign kicks off on Sept. 19 with a “Day of Caring” involving teams of volunteers from companies and organizations throughout the community completing projects to benefit human service organizations and those they serve.
