Rappahannock high school gets new principal

School Superintendent Robert Chappell announced today that Adam Burket has accepted the School Board's offer to be the new principal of Rappahannock County High School.Burket grew up in the Lancaster, Pa., area and attended James Madison University on a football scholarship. In 1986 he earned a B.S. degree from JMU in kinesiology.
Burket served as an educator in the Rockingham County, Va., schools for 19 years in various positions. He was a health / PE teacher, Head football coach, head track coach, athletic director, assistant principal, and – for four years - principal of Spotswood High School. He also served as a middle school principal in Winchester. He is in a doctoral program in educational leadership at the University of Virginia.
Burket lives in Charlottesville and plans to move to Rappahannock County. He will begin his new position at RCHS by the first of next week.
“He has told us he looks forward to meeting staff, students, parents and members of the community,” said Chappell. The public schools plan to host a public reception for Burket at a date and time to be announced.
