Kathryn Rebecca Teel, 23, of Sperryville was arrested and charged with curse and abuse, obstruction of justice. Teel was in court on July 15 for an incident in which she had been arrested and charged with assault and battery on Leslie Jones, 40, of Strasburg on July 11. According to Sheriff Connie Compton Smith, Teel was "causing a problem" when she was leaving the courthouse. She was arrested by Lt. Roger Jenkins.

On Sunday evening, July 20, sheriff's deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash on Long Mountain Road. When deputies arrived they found a single car that had run off the road and driver John Christopher Volk, 41, of Washington. As a result of the accident Volk was arrested and charged with DUI by Deputy Robbie Fincham.
