Sperryville United Methodist is hosting Vacation Bible School July 31 Aug. 1 from 6 8 p.m. The VBS theme is "Beach Party: Surfin' the Scriptures." For additional information call 540-675-3370.

Everyone is invited to an evening of musical enjoyment on Aug. 2 at Bethel Baptist Church, Amissville. The voices of Shiloh, Millwood, Va., will be in concert starting at 4 p.m. The Bethel Baptist Choir sponsors this program. For more information, call 540-937-3899.

 

The First Baptist Church, Washington, will be having its homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 3. Rev. Dr. Wendell Grant will conduct the morning service and Rev. Maranatha Baptist Church, Amissville, will be having its annual Homecoming Day on Aug. 3. The guest speaker will be evangelist Bobby Barnes from Monroe, S. C. Pastor Albert Payne will also be celebrating seven years as pastor. Lunch will be served at noon. Afternoon service will be at 1:30 p.m. Albert Payne invites all to attend.

Hope Hill Baptist Church, Castleton, will have Vacation Bible School Aug. 4-8 from 7-9 p.m. This year's theme is Going for the Gold-Training to run the race of life God's way! There will be puppets, stories, snacks and games each night. For more information call 540-829-4924.

 

The Wayland Blue Ridge Baptist Association, Inc., will hold its 119th Annual Session, August 12-15, at the Wayland Blue Ridge Baptist Center, 15044 Ryland Chapel Rd., Rixeyville. The sessions begin at 9:30 a.m. daily. Lunch may be purchased onsite for a nominal fee. Highlights this year include Youth Day on Tuesday featuring a College Prep Workshop in the afternoon presented by Dream Big Inc., Hampton/Atlanta, Ga. The target audience is 5th grade and up, parents, guardians, teachers, ministers, etc. The workshop provides tools and techniques for the applications process, choosing the right school for you, scholarship information, college tours and more. There is no fee for the workshop. The public is invited. Guest preachers include the keynote address on Wednesday by Rev. James Victor, Pastor, Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Arlington, Va., and the Missionary Sermon to be delivered on Thursday by Rev. Dr. Decker Tabscott, founder and pastor, Faith Christian Church International, Warrenton, Va. Rev. James L. Holmes, Culpeper, is the Moderator and Minister Patricia A. Wormley is the Association Clerk. Registration is open for the 3rd Women In Worship Conference on Sept. 26-27 in Fredericksburg at the Hospitality House and Conference Center (formerly Holiday Inn). Check-in begins on Friday, Sept. 26 at 12 noon and an EXPO featuring vendors and mini-informational sessions. The conference is sponsored by Wayland Blue Ridge Women's Auxiliary and Friends. The early bird registration is open until Aug. 22. Guest speakers are Cynthia Brazelton, Victory Christian Ministries, Rev. Tammie Armstead Pulliam and Rev.
