Mad About You!
"Mad About You!" is the title of the concert which the beautiful soprano Jacqueline Neimat will bring to the Theatre at Washington, Virginia on Saturday, May 17. Each spring for the last several years Neimat has presented audiences with a brilliantly chosen program of love songs from opera and from Broadway.
This year, for the first time, Neimat will be joined by the baritone Stanley Webber. Pianist George Peachey will return to the Theatre for this concert, as will Elizabeth Daniels, who serves as narrator. Daniels' unique, and sometimes humorous, ability to place arias in the context of the plot of an opera has always delighted Theatre audiences.
The first half of the performance includes music from operas by Mozart, Puccini, Donizetti, Massenet and Rossini. After the intermission, the program reflects the same themes as in the operatic selections, but shifts to music from the twentieth century -- including well known songs from West Side Story, South Pacific, Kiss Me Kate, My Fair Lady and Show Boat. The concert on Saturday, May 17 begins at 8 p.m. Tickets for the performance are $20 for adults and $5 for students 18 and under. For reservations, or to obtain a copy of the Theatre's schedule, phone (540) 675-1253 or send email to TheatreVA@aol.com,or write to The Theatre, P. O. Box 322, Washington, Virginia 22747.
