Cash for the fire and rescue squads
By Jim Blubaugh/Washington
I’d like the community to become aware of a new effort, initiated by the Rappahannock County Lions Club, to provide extra funds for our fire and rescue squads.
The Lions have affiliated with seven firms that are used by Rappahannock residents and that have offered to work with us to improve our community. On the Lions Web site, it is now possible to link directly into the home pages of Amazon, Macy’s, Office Depot, 1-800-Flowers, PetSmart, Plow and Hearth, and Wal-mart. If you purchase anything from any of these vendors after linking through the Lions site, a small percentage of the purchase price comes back to the Lions Club. We pass back 100 percent of this amount to the fire and rescue squads of Rappahannock County.
So we encourage everyone to do themselves a favor and do their community a favor. Choose to shop at one of these community-minded businesses through the Lions Club. The price and selection are exactly the same, and sometimes there are discounts available for going through the Lions’ site. More importantly, the fire and rescue departments benefit when you go through us.
To use this service, simply go to the Lions Web site (www.RappahannockLions.org) and click on the page that says "Support Our Community." Then go about your shopping as normal. If you choose not to buy right away, just return to the Lions’ page and link into the site again when you are ready to purchase. As long as the purchase is made after linking through the Lions Club, we will receive funds to support our fire and rescue squads.
