Non-Resident Student Tuition Rate for 2008-09
The School Board approved the tuition rate in the amount of $ 6,182.00. This is based on the final appropriation by the Board of Supervisors of $11,812,799.00. The Board also approved the Superintendent's recommendation to charge a transportation fee of $930 for any tuition student transported by the RCPS to and from an established stop in Rappahannock County. No tuition students are to be transported by the RCPS across county lines.
Enrollment goes up between September and April:
Supt. Bob Chappell recently announced that RCPS student enrollment increased from 941 students in September to 953 in April. In the fall of 2007 Chappell provided a breakdown of student transfers to and from other public schools, private schools, and home schooling. He will update that report by June to help analyze why the student count increased during the year. Note: If the student count for 2008-09 (Average Daily Membership from August through March) exceeds the 902 budgeted by the School Board, the Board would have to request an additional appropriation for any increase in State revenues (approx. $1,812 per each additional student) from the Board of Supervisors.

JP Soccer Girls had a great season!
The team was undefeated through all regular season games, tournament quarterfinals, and tournament semifinals. In the middle school tournament finals on May 8, the girls tied the game in the final 90 seconds of regulation to send the game into two scoreless overtime periods. Despite an exciting, valiant effort by the Panthers on the field during regulation and overtime, Fresta Valley beat Rapp 5-4 on penalty kicks. Congratulations to the JP Girls and their coaches for a great season!
