Rappahannock's easements surpass 27,000 acres

Roger and Kathryn Jones of Sperryville have granted to the Virginia Outdoors Foundation an easement protecting an additional 95 acres of what was once Jessamine Hill in Washington, Va.

Recorded Nov. 17, the easement merges four tax parcels into one parcel that may never be divided. The Jones' easement abuts others protecting other portions of original Jessamine Hill, supports riparian buffers previously established under the CREP program, and includes building restrictions.
Total easement protection in Rappahannock County now stands at 27,034 acres – 19.8 percent of all private land.
