Jack Frazier opens new exhibit
One of the Piedmont’s most prolific and versatile painters, abstract artist Jack Frazier, who is 80 years young, is opening his 11th one-man show on Sept. 6 at the Packing Shed Gallery in “Little” Washington.A reception will be held at the gallery from 2-5 p.m.
Although most noted for his unusually colorful abstracts, this show is dedicated to “Landscape Impressions.” These paintings grew out of his experiences over the last few months hiking with his two sons—avid outdoorsmen. There are plentiful examples in the show of landscape impressions that evoke the Piedmont as well as others that illustrate the Chesapeake Bay area.
Each painting developed in Frazier’s imagination starts with a center of interest that leads the viewer to appreciate Frazier’s great sense of colors and his incredible ability to use them in an harmonious composition. It is hard to view or write about Frazier’s exhibits without gushing enthusiasm.
In addition to painting for his own pleasure, Frazier has completed commissioned paintings of Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and Theodore Roosevelt.
