Obituary

Mildred E. Johnson

Died April 23, 2008

Sperryville resident

Mildred Ellen Johnson Harper, 87, 0f Sperryville, died at her residence on April 23.

Mrs. Harper was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, July 18, 1920 to Ernest Johnson and Katherine Holland Johnson.

She was married to the late Rev. John Harrell Harper.

Mrs. Harper was an elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Charleston, West Virginia; active in the Women of the Church and the Stephens Ministry; worked with the Shepherd’s Center of Charleston, West Virginia; served on the board of the Y.M.C.A. of Charleston; was a member of the East End Historical Society of Charleston; was a member of the West Virginia Quilter’s Guild and was a member of the Auxiliary of St. Frances Hospital in Charleston.

Surviving Mrs. Harper are her daughters, Rev. Barbara H. Jamieson and her husband John M. of Sperryville, and Patricia H. Rohr and her husband Paul Randolph Rohr of Clifton, Virginia; four grandchildren, and one great- grandson.

Memorial services will be held at a latter date in Charleston, West Virginia.
