Hello, Rapplanders. I’m Moriah and I am looking for a home. I’m only 4 months old, and weigh about 20 pounds. When I grow up I’ll weigh 40 to 55 pounds. I’m a Plott Hound mix, mainly Plott. Plotts are one of the least known dogs in the U.S. even though we are the state dog of North Carolina. We are scent hounds — like the foxhound — but were originally bred to hunt bear. Like other hounds we make great pets. I’m a happy, social girl who loves everybody — other dogs, cats and kids. And maybe you, of course.

This past week, ten of my canine colleagues were joined with new owners. The Rappahannock Animal Welfare League (RAWL), 160 Weaver Rd., Amissville, is open 8 to 1 daily. Call 540-937-3283 or visit rawldogs.org.
