Students from Rappahannock County Elementary School, Hearthstone School and Wakefield Country Day School enjoyed a day in the Thornton River last Friday to learn about Sperryville’s watershed and stream health.Â

Continuing the tradition of RappFLOW, a now-defunct water preservation nonprofit that merged The Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection (RLEP) in February, the RLEP-sponsored event featured volunteers from Old Rag Master Naturalists, the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute, Friends of the Rappahannock, and RLEP work with fifth, seventh, and 12th graders in hands-on programs to engage in stream health monitoring and a variety of related activities.Â
